Self Care
During times of loss, offering genuine support can be a source of comfort and solace. Here are some ways that you can take care of yourself and allow others to support you during this time.
You’re here because someone who cares about you sent you a card from Sorry For Your Loss (Cards) and they want to offer support during this difficult time. Whether you're grieving a recent loss or marking an anniversary, it’s okay to not have all the answers—or the words to ask for help.
The person who sent this card wants you to know it’s okay to talk about grief, openly and honestly. Here are a few ways to care for yourself right now:
Set Boundaries: You don’t have to respond to everyone. If the outpouring of love feels overwhelming, ask a trusted friend or family member to be your point of contact.
Accept Help: Let loved ones support you with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, or school pickups. Saying “yes” to help makes the load lighter.
Find Community: Grief can feel isolating, but healing often happens in community. Surround yourself with people who understand and can provide comfort.
Be Kind To Yourself: This is a tender and confusing time. You may find yourself on an emotional rollercoaster—what felt clear yesterday might feel overwhelming today. Give yourself grace and patience. Take things one moment, one day at a time. You’re doing the best you can, and that’s enough.
