@itssakita are having a much needed conversation about how they cope with grief.

In May, Sakita candidly shared why she turned to medication as a part of her healing journey.

Please note: They are not medical professionals. They’re simply providing a space to have a conversation about their personal experiences.

Join us on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:30 am PT/ 1:30 pm ET for a Mental Health Break!

Coping with Grief

  • Embrace Your Feelings Whether it's positive or negative, allow yourself to feel your feelings. You may be able to cope better if you seek the help of a therapist. A great resource for finding Black culturally competent therapists is Therapy for Black Girls

  • Move Your Body Dopamine, our body's happiness hormone, can be stimulated by something as simple as a walk around the block. Yoga and pilates or even something as simple as walking are all great ways to get your body moving.

  • Feel the Sun The sunrays on your face will help boost your mood even if you don't have much time to spend outside.

  • Honor Your Loved One / Honor Your Grief look at a photo and recall your favorite memory. Sometimes facing the very thing you’re trying to avoid helps

  • Let it out!Whether it's writing in a journal or screaming at the top of your lungs. It is possible to feel immediate relief by releasing suppressed emotions.

Grief Cycle

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are the five stages of grief. The five stages of grieving do not have a set time limit, and they are not guaranteed to happen to everyone who is grieving.
